We build healthy, affordable cabins and houses that are warmer, drier, stronger, very energy-efficient and eco-friendly.
We have solutions to meet your housing needs whatever your situation might be so that you can enjoy a well-built, durable and modern home. We recognise having a dry healthy living space with high energy efficiency are important features of today’s home buyers.
Our cabins and homes are built with structural insulated panels (SIPs), a proven construction material in the northern hemisphere for over 50 years.
The panels consist of an insulating foam core sandwiched between two structural facings, typically Oriented Strand Board (OSB) made from compressed layers of wood strands.
SIPs are used in our homes for all flooring, ceilings and walls. The all-surround panels will keep you cosy and warm, or cooler in the summer months.
Our cabins and smaller homes are all transportable using sleepers and screw piles for foundations and ease of mobility.
You can keep your asset or on-sell easily depending on your change of circumstances.
Proven to be superior to the traditional wood frame building,
SIP panel construction is the building standard of the future available to you now.
Te Kākano is a member of the international Structural Insulated Panel Association (SIPA).
Our business name in te reo Māori loosely translates to ‘seeding of healthy homes’.
The name was chosen because we want to be part of starting your journey into a comfortable and healthy living space.
Te Kākano Homes aims to provide quality, affordable, healthy homes.
We are passionate about solutions to meet the immediate needs of the current housing crisis whilst creating a sustainable business in the housing sector.
The simplicity of SIP panels is a big tick.
In the course of business operations in the community, we work with govt organisations such as TPK, MBIE, MSD, WINZ and others such as Kāinga Ora, Councils and Kiwi Bank.
